The Windsor police Major Crime Unit is investigating after a dead person was found near the city’s core early Thursday.
Police said officers responded around 3 a.m. to a report of a female laying on the ground outside an apartment building in the 1500 block of Ouellette Avenue.
The officers arrived and located a deceased female at the south side of the building.
Police said Thursday afternoon that their investigation is only in its initial stages.
Officers remained in the area throughout Thursday, with investigators canvassing for witnesses and potential video evidence.
No further details have been disclosed.
The 1500 block of Ouellette Avenue is south of the intersection with Shepherd Street.
There are several multi-unit residential structures in the area, including the 13-story Regency Colonade Apartments building.
